Cafe Terra – For a Perfect Weekend Breakfast

Cafe Terra Menu, Reviews, Photos, Location and Info - Zomato

What is your idea of a relaxed Saturday morning? Staying under the blanket till noon or finishing pending bank work or spending quality time with close friends or perhaps catching up with friends and family? Saturdays are pleasant and they visit us every week with plenty of options.

On one such lovely Saturday, three of us agreed to meet up and not discuss work. We, Piklers (that’s what we love to call ourselves) visited Cafe Terra in Indiranagar to catch up on some interesting breakfast. The cafe is known for its ‘All Day Breakfast’ theme where you can enjoy breakfast anytime of the day. Puzzled? That’s how IT city – Bengaluru works, it is morning only when you wake up.

Cafe Terra is located on the ground and first floor of an independent building that also houses an interior designing firm. The exteriors, makes the place looks like a huge bungalow, uniquely designed that combines red brick construction and large glass windows along with open balconies, and a terrace filled with greenery.

The interiors are equally attractive. As you enter the cafe, you are greeted with numerous framed pop art posters, digital & handmade art works adorning the red bricked walls. Trust me, you cannot take your eyes off those. This colorful rendition apart from the traditional cafe setup makes the place more cosy and attractive. On the right, you will find a shelf containing comic books and magazines that will instantly take you back to your childhood. We felt like reading adventures of Chacha Chowdhary and Sabu all over again after seeing a couple of editions kept on one of the shelves.

We wanted to occupy the left corner table which was illuminated by the beautiful natural sun light flashing through the window and window-sills, giving it a warmer and homely feel. However, the spot was already taken. We even had to wait for 10 minutes, which means the place is generally crowded on weekends. We took our seats at a usual looking spot and placed our order.

Eggs were on our mind and we wanted it on our plate ASAP. 😊 We ordered a Full English Breakfast, Omelette-a-la-Railway station and an Italian Frittata along with watermelon juice and Chocolate Milk shake.

Full English Breakfast came with a huge appetizing assortment of Bacon, Chicken Sausages, Scrambled Eggs, Bread Toast, Butter, Hash Browns, mashed potatoes, grilled tomatoes, baked beans and filter coffee. All of it freshly prepared and served hot. The assortment of cheesy scrambled eggs, mildly flavored mashed potatoes and saucy baked beans on bread toast made a delicious combination. Hash brown was very crisp and reminded me of Sabu dana Vada (yes, homely place, remember!). Chicken sausages were soft with smoky flavor. The bacon was crisp fried and for someone like me who doesn’t like the taste of a usual bacon – preparation, I enjoyed it. The climax was a big cup of hot filter coffee. The servings were optimum, neither too less or more. However, the coffee should have been served after the breakfast not before it. For a price of 290/- it was a perfect platter.

Omelette-a-la-Railway Station is your typical home-made omelette prepared with onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, green chillies and spices. The omelette was thick and went well with bread toast, mashed potatoes and butter. Quite filling!

Italian Frittata is again, an omelette preparation with garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese on top of it. Served with bread toast and mashed potatoes, it oozed of cheesy flavor. The feta cheese topping made all the difference as it gave a different flavor to the entire omelette experience.

Talk about the beverages, and the watermelon juice was refreshing with no sugar or added. The chocolate milkshake was thick and gave off a rich flavor of cocoa.

Along with the interesting breakfast and engaging interactions, we three friends prepped for the rest of the weekend.

Overall, Café Terra is a quaint and comfortable place, with friendly staff serving some delightful food on our tables. This is a place that you would love to experience multiple times and relish the memories and savories.

Weekend Food Bonanza @ Pikle

A house party on weekends with friends usually involves alcohol (social drinking) and food. However, the previous weekend was different as we purely got high only on yummy food from various well-known eateries in Bengaluru.

We had a gala time enjoying the food and sharing our collective feedback about them.

Oven Story

Packaging – The pizza was packed neatly in a robust cardboard box. Enough for the pizza to stay at its position while in transit.

About the Pizza – Based on a thin crust pizza base, the pizza had a double topping layer over the base. The first layer consisted of marinara sauce underneath a decent layer of cheese. The topmost layer consisted of spiced tandoori chicken chunks. The chicken chunks were quite mouthful, soft and had a nice smoky, tangy flavour. The sauce used had a consistent taste in each bite and in conjunction with the flavour of the toppings.

Overall, a yummy pizza treat for a Friday night.

Delivery – We ordered the pizza online and it was delivered piping hot right on time.

Firangi Bake

We placed order for Tandoori Kukkad Pot Rice and Bombay Masala Quesadilla to add to an exciting evening.

Tandoori Kukkad Pot Rice was basically a cross of Indian biryani and Italian lasagna.

It had succulent chicken pieces, under the layer of rice has the flavour of biryani and just the right amount of cheese as the top layer. All together giving a rich fusion taste. It was a lasagna rendition with Indian ingredients namely Kulcha, and biryani topped with melted cheese. Great idea!

Bombay Masala Quesadilla was a Mexican delicacy with a twist of Mumbai in it. The Bombay Masala Quesadilla was packed neatly in a typical Firangi Bake box and timely delivered. It was packed with sufficient amount of stuffing consisting of assorted vegetables and gravy within a crunchy tortilla made of flour. The tortilla was thick, nicely baked and big enough to hold the stuffing without wilting or breaking. The creamy taste of the gravy went along very well with the medium spicy masala.

The fusion idea worked with us, looking forward to experiment with more on the menu, soon.

Behrouz Biryani

We had ordered a Lazeez Bhuna Murgh Biryani (Boneless) from Behrouz Biryani.

The Lazeez Bhuna Murg chicken biryani was delicious, seemed freshly prepared and had tender and juicy boneless chicken pieces. They use extra-long grain rice which adds to the texture, plus the aroma of the piping hot biryani itself is appetizing enough. The biryani was served with raita, and for those with sweet cravings, this combo comes with a yummy Gulab Jamun.
The quantity of the biryani was way enough for a single person.

Delivery was done on time. The biryani was neatly packaged that avoided any kind of spillage. The branding of Behrouz Biryani gave a premium feel to the entire food experience.

 Faasos

Faasos is a known name in Bangalore and for our experiment with brand, we wanted to try out a vegetarian and non-vegetarian option, each. We ticked on these variants from the menu – Cheesy Chicken Delight Jumbo Wrap and Mexican Potato Salsa Wrap and were definitely not disappointed.

Cheesy Chicken Delight Jumbo Wrap: Wheat option is healthy. Eat it hot to enjoy the crunchiness of the crust. This Jumbo wrap was full of tender meatballs and chunky chicken pieces, well cooked in masala gravy. Quantity was very good and filling. Good amount of chicken and sufficient amount of other veggies like onion, gravy and sauce. Proportionate. Homely taste owing to the wheat Indian bread.

Mexican Potato Salsa Wrap: this proved to be a real Mexican delight with potatoes cooked in juicy salsa sauce. It was good to taste, filling for the tummy and satisfying for the soul. Too cheesy am I?

Sweet Truth

An evening with friends cannot end with desserts. To conclude our fun-filled soiree, we agreed on trying out some sweetmeats from Sweet Truth.

Chocolate Decadence came in as a set of two neatly packed pastry. It was soft, moist, not too sweet. The chocolate had a bit of bitterness to it adding to its authenticity. The walnut was crunchy but could have been of a better quality. Good chocolate cake. However, we were informed that Chocolate Decadence came along with a combo of Cheese cake. Guess they missed placing the cheese cake in the order.

Pan Cakes are the simplest and underrated dessert (for a Bangalorean like me, it is as good a sweet dosa for me). The Pan Cake came in a set of three to be savored with rich chocolate sauce, blueberry jam and honey. The cakes were fluffy, very soft and the sweetness was just right, neither too much, nor too less. Sizes could have been a little bigger though. Delivery was on time and packaging was tight. By the way, did you know that pan cakes go very well with a can of chilled beer. 😀 (not suggesting anything…)

Overall, we had a filling weekend that satisfied our culinary cravings right from the starters till the desserts. Bon Appetit!
