What is your idea of a relaxed Saturday morning? Staying under the blanket till noon or finishing pending bank work or spending quality time with close friends or perhaps catching up with friends and family? Saturdays are pleasant and they visit us every week with plenty of options.
On one such lovely Saturday, three of us agreed to meet up and not discuss work. We, Piklers (that’s what we love to call ourselves) visited Cafe Terra in Indiranagar to catch up on some interesting breakfast. The cafe is known for its ‘All Day Breakfast’ theme where you can enjoy breakfast anytime of the day. Puzzled? That’s how IT city – Bengaluru works, it is morning only when you wake up.
Cafe Terra is located on the ground and first floor of an independent building that also houses an interior designing firm. The exteriors, makes the place looks like a huge bungalow, uniquely designed that combines red brick construction and large glass windows along with open balconies, and a terrace filled with greenery.
The interiors are equally attractive. As you enter the cafe, you are greeted with numerous framed pop art posters, digital & handmade art works adorning the red bricked walls. Trust me, you cannot take your eyes off those. This colorful rendition apart from the traditional cafe setup makes the place more cosy and attractive. On the right, you will find a shelf containing comic books and magazines that will instantly take you back to your childhood. We felt like reading adventures of Chacha Chowdhary and Sabu all over again after seeing a couple of editions kept on one of the shelves.
We wanted to occupy the left corner table which was illuminated by the beautiful natural sun light flashing through the window and window-sills, giving it a warmer and homely feel. However, the spot was already taken. We even had to wait for 10 minutes, which means the place is generally crowded on weekends. We took our seats at a usual looking spot and placed our order.
Eggs were on our mind and we wanted it on our plate ASAP. 😊 We ordered a Full English Breakfast, Omelette-a-la-Railway station and an Italian Frittata along with watermelon juice and Chocolate Milk shake.
Full English Breakfast came with a huge appetizing assortment of Bacon, Chicken Sausages, Scrambled Eggs, Bread Toast, Butter, Hash Browns, mashed potatoes, grilled tomatoes, baked beans and filter coffee. All of it freshly prepared and served hot. The assortment of cheesy scrambled eggs, mildly flavored mashed potatoes and saucy baked beans on bread toast made a delicious combination. Hash brown was very crisp and reminded me of Sabu dana Vada (yes, homely place, remember!). Chicken sausages were soft with smoky flavor. The bacon was crisp fried and for someone like me who doesn’t like the taste of a usual bacon – preparation, I enjoyed it. The climax was a big cup of hot filter coffee. The servings were optimum, neither too less or more. However, the coffee should have been served after the breakfast not before it. For a price of 290/- it was a perfect platter.
Omelette-a-la-Railway Station is your typical home-made omelette prepared with onions, tomatoes, coriander leaves, green chillies and spices. The omelette was thick and went well with bread toast, mashed potatoes and butter. Quite filling!
Italian Frittata is again, an omelette preparation with garlic, sun-dried tomatoes, spinach and feta cheese on top of it. Served with bread toast and mashed potatoes, it oozed of cheesy flavor. The feta cheese topping made all the difference as it gave a different flavor to the entire omelette experience.
Talk about the beverages, and the watermelon juice was refreshing with no sugar or added. The chocolate milkshake was thick and gave off a rich flavor of cocoa.
Along with the interesting breakfast and engaging interactions, we three friends prepped for the rest of the weekend.
Overall, Café Terra is a quaint and comfortable place, with friendly staff serving some delightful food on our tables. This is a place that you would love to experience multiple times and relish the memories and savories.
